Poor Pup

Before
Today was the big day for Gizmo. We got up early and went outside for his last manly frolic in the snow. He was full of energy and delighted to be outside and peed on every tree he could find. He was so excited when we got into the car, riding is one of his favorite past times, not a clue as to what he was in for. We got to the vet and while I was filling out the paperwork he pooped right in the middle of the waiting room floor, so embarrassing! One of the vet aides came out to get him and he happily jumped into her arms and licked her face. I felt really bad leaving him, but they promised he would be fine and wouldn't remember anything. Not only did they take his man parts, they shaved and flushed his ears, they were very matted and he wouldn't let us trim or brush them. They also did blood work and implanted a microchip between his shoulders. This way if he ever gets lost and someone takes him to a vet or animal shelter, they can scan him and he will show up on the national registry and be returned to us. Jason picked him up this afternoon, was given directions and pain meds. I have never seen a more pitiful sight. Jason had him on the bed wrapped up in a blanket and he was just lying there with his eyes half open and his head bobbing to try to stay awake. We did take him outside for a few minutes, but his back legs were still a little wobbly. He settled into his crate with Girlfriend and I think he is down for the count tonight.

Wedding Update

Only 87 days till the wedding! Not that anyone is counting or anxious for April to come! Things are really coming together. Jason, Barb, Richard and I went to the Hilton last night for the food tasting. We had to narrow down our choices for the final menu. The food was fabulous! We all got salads and warm rolls to start and then they brought out 4 entrees of our choice and we got to try a little of each. We had the roast sirloin of beef, chicken shenandoah, cornish game hens and chicken caraquet. Seems like a lot of chicken, but it is my favorite. Every thing was great, but we decided to go with the chicken caraquet- a boneless breast of chicken filled with a Maine lobster herb stuffing topped with a Boursin cream. It turned out to be the top choice of everyone at the table, much to our surprise. I thought it would be the beef. We are also going to have a vegetarian choice, the totellini alla fresca-cheese tortellini sauteed with fresh vegetables and topped with a white cream sauce. After the entrees the waitress brought out 4 different desserts that were complimentary for doing the tasting. Oh my god, were they good. We got a piece of key lime pie, carrot cake, chocolate cake with raspberry filling and strawberry cheesecake. All the desserts were artistically displayed with whipped cream and sauces, so pretty. We had to roll ourselves out of there! One more thing off the list, I have to admit this was one of the favorites.
I had told everyone that we were going to make the invitations. I had every intention of doing this. I was very proud of the fact that I had put everything to make them in a box. That was the first thing we moved to the new apartment. I got out the box with the supplies last week to start making the invitations and discovered that the blue ink was not there. I looked every where and could not find it. That was when we decided to order the invitations. We went online and found some we really liked and ordered them. They came about a week later and the best part is, they are all made! All we have to do is stuff the envelopes and address them. It had gotten to the point that we were worried about getting everything done, so this makes things much easier. We'll keep you updated!

"I love humanity"

Don't you love it when you go out and you encounter someone that makes you feel completely normal?! We were at Applebee's spending the huge Christmas bonus that Jason got, a gift certificate. It was late, the restaurant was quiet and we had just gotten our drinks, when in walked our entertainment for the evening. Two tables down sat a man and woman, who we think were on their first date. She began talking at a decibel higher than every one in the place and never stopped. I still am not sure he ever had the chance to reply. We felt bad for him and thought about offering him a ride or some way out. It began with the normal likes and dislikes and quickly went to more personal things. She told him her family is from many different heritages, so she is a mutt. She said that she doesn't believe in religion, but Paganism really interests her and that when she gets married she wants to have a big Catholic wedding??!! But then again she is already 33, so she isn't sure it will ever happen. She also thinks that dancing is very sexy and at her wedding she and her new husband will do a choreographed waltz that includes the whole wedding party. She then went on to explain that she had made a poor error in judgment when she was young and desperate and in college. At this point I was feeling a little guilty, but wanted to hear more! We missed a few pieces of the conversation, the waitress came with our check, but we did hear frat house, money and that she had taken care of things. We passed on dessert, neither of us thought we could take any more, and burst out laughing as soon as we got outside. I'm glad I never went on a date like that!
