In Memory

Five years ago today, we lost my step dad, Roger, to cancer. He spent the last few weeks of his life at camp with my mom and their dog, just the way he wanted. So much has changed these last 5 years, but he is still very much in our hearts and minds. We miss you so much.

Vacation

Vacation, I love it, but it goes by so fast! We spent the last few days in Cape Cod with Jason's family at Teaticket, his grandmother's summer house. We left home Thursday at 12:30 pm, did a few errands and hit the road. The traffic wasn't too bad, we had to stop a couple of times to stretch, so we didn't get to the house until 6:30 pm. It was a long day! Luckily, Alex is a much better passenger in the car than I am.

Jason's brother, his wife and two of their friends were waiting for us at the house and made us a yummy dinner of grilled chicken with all the fixings. So nice after a long ride. Alex went to bed shortly after dinner and the adults played poker. I have only played a couple of times before and can never remember which cards make what hands, but I had a string of beginners luck and racked up quite a few chips. I need to learn that I don't have to stay in for every hand, so I lost in the end. Thank-you to Mike, Diane, Nuno and Sonia, we had so much fun.The rest of the family arrived on Friday and we spent the next few days visiting and relaxing. Alex had a fantastic time with his cousins, Allison and Evan. Alex wanted to do everything that Ally was doing and followed her around the whole time. They hit a few rounds of golf, played croquet and rode in the wagon. As for Evan, he didn't show much interest in him, except wanting play with his toys and sit in his car seat, even if Evan was already in it! We went for a walk on Sunday, mostly to confirm that I really did see this from the car in someone's front yard. I love it!!! Jason, Arron, Christine and I left the kids with the grandparents Monday afternoon and went to see the new Batman movie. The old movie theatre in Falmouth has been renovated into a Cinema Pub. You sit in swivel chairs at a table and they have a menu you can order from throughout the movie. They have all the usual movie treats plus appetizers, dinners, dessert and even alcoholic beverages. The movie was great, scary and full of suspense. I want to see it again! The next day Barb, Christine, Arron, Ally and I went to see Mama Mia. What a movie, I loved the music! We sat near the front and Ally danced through the entire thing. It was so much fun to watch her having so much fun. I wanted to jump up there with her for some of the songs and I think I will have to buy the soundtrack. We left the Cape a little after 8 pm Tuesday night to head for home. We wanted to avoid the traffic and hoped that Alex would sleep the majority of the ride. He did, but woke up for the last 15 min or so and just cried and screamed, he'd had enough. We got home shortly after midnight and all went right to bed. We had a very nice vacation, but it is so good to be home!
