Campin' Out

Monday Gizmo and I trekked up north to Oquossic, which is just past Rangely. Jason was working and my uncle had invited the family to join in the festivities of the long weekend at his camp. For as far back as I can remember my family has gathered at the camp to celebrate the 4th, but as people have gotten older, they don't go as much. I hadn't been in almost 5 years and this year almost everyone that could go, did. We had a great time!

In Rangely they have the fireworks on the night of the 3rd, not sure why, but it usually works out that I get to see them at home the next day too. We went down to the motel my grandparents were staying in and watched the fireworks from the porch. They shoot the fireworks out over Rangely Lake and the view is great from there. Gizmo made several new friends, both human and dog, he really preferred the humans! Both Gizmo and Sugar ended up in the motel room for the fireworks. They both were scared of the sounds. Sugar went so far under the bed that we had to pick it up to get her out. Gizmo started shivering and whimpering so he ended up in his crate and was much happier.
The camp is quite rustic, no running water and the only bathroom is an outhouse, that's how my uncle likes it! At least it has electricity now, it didn't used to. Very luxurious! That is why I only like to spend 1 night there at a time, ok I'll admit it, I am a little prissy. I shared a tent with my sister, cousin Mina, mum's dog Sugar and Gizmo because there were so many people there. The camp was full and there were 3 campers full of people down the hill. We were very cozy! The dogs got along pretty well, but Sugar is a bit of a bully. She is top dog wherever she goes and doesn't like to share. She usually puts Gizmo right in his place and this weekend was no exception.

We packed up the car Tuesday morning and headed home. Like I said 1 night is enough! Plus I really missed Jason!
