Poor Pup

Before
Today was the big day for Gizmo. We got up early and went outside for his last manly frolic in the snow. He was full of energy and delighted to be outside and peed on every tree he could find. He was so excited when we got into the car, riding is one of his favorite past times, not a clue as to what he was in for. We got to the vet and while I was filling out the paperwork he pooped right in the middle of the waiting room floor, so embarrassing! One of the vet aides came out to get him and he happily jumped into her arms and licked her face. I felt really bad leaving him, but they promised he would be fine and wouldn't remember anything. Not only did they take his man parts, they shaved and flushed his ears, they were very matted and he wouldn't let us trim or brush them. They also did blood work and implanted a microchip between his shoulders. This way if he ever gets lost and someone takes him to a vet or animal shelter, they can scan him and he will show up on the national registry and be returned to us. Jason picked him up this afternoon, was given directions and pain meds. I have never seen a more pitiful sight. Jason had him on the bed wrapped up in a blanket and he was just lying there with his eyes half open and his head bobbing to try to stay awake. We did take him outside for a few minutes, but his back legs were still a little wobbly. He settled into his crate with Girlfriend and I think he is down for the count tonight.
