Allergic to ????

After enjoying ourselves at the apple orchard on Monday, the next day I had to take Alex to the doctors office. He had broken out in a rash overnight. We saw the nurse practitioner who checked him over and told us it was an allergic reaction, he has the start of a cold and a red eardrum that we will have to keep an eye on. We aren't sure if he is allergic to the animals we met Mon. or if it's an environmental allergy. He hadn't had any problems before, but it may have something to do with the fall leaves, pine needles and other things that decay in the fall before a good frost. He is on Benadryl and it could be 7 to 10 days before the histamine reaction is completely out of his system. He was really hivey, itchy and red Tues. and Weds., but it has gotten better over the last 2 days. Poor guy, he's still his cheerful self and this hasn't slowed him down. If he starts breaking out again after we taper the Benadryl next week, we'll have to go back to the Dr. and try something else. I hope we don't have to.
